Microbes are found all over the world from hospitable temperate climates to the most extreme environments, and Microbial Insights is proud to have analyzed samples from every continent and more than 60 different countries. Wherever a site may be located, it is easy for our clients to receive supplies and return samples to one of our global laboratories. This month, we are celebrating our wonderful international partners and the projects they help facilitate.

Meet Our Partners
Site Investigation Supply provides consumables and equipment for environmental and geotechnical site investigations across Australia. Since September 2024, we are the exclusive distributor of Microbial Insights, stocking molecular biological tools (MBTs) locally and delivering them directly to clients. We make these advanced technologies easy to access and use in the field. Together, we support projects with practical solutions backed by proven science.
EBPI (Environmental Bio-Detections Products Inc.) and Microbial Insights—20 years of collaboration. From Great Lakes to Cottage Lakes, EBPI has collaborated with Microbial Insights (MI) to protect Canadian freshwater resources by utilizing advanced Microbial Source Tracking (MST) technologies. Identifying specific sources of fecal contamination such as human, Canadian goose, dog, or ruminant enables targeted corrective actions to maintain high water quality in areas of concern.
Beyond water quality, EBPI also relies on Microbial Insights’ expertise for Microbiologically Influenced Corrosion (MIC) analysis on Canadian pipeline and railway infrastructure. Molecular biological tools such as CENSUS® qPCR and QuantArray® and Next Generation Sequencing (NGS)-MIC are incorporated to monitor, detect, and quantify the microorganisms responsible for the corrosion allowing engineers to address in a timely manner before they become large problems.
Sensatec GmbH is an in-situ remediation technology provider based in Germany with site investigation and remediation activities in many European countries as well as on the continent of Africa. The company provides implementation capacities for biological, chemical and thermal remediation technologies. It also provides specialized Geoprobe drilling services, direct push as well as high pressure injection (hydraulic fracturing) technologies to apply liquid as well as solid reagents to the groundwater. Feasibility studies are conducted in the company’s lab facilities in Kiel, Cologne and Berlin. An innovative in-situ-PFAS elution technology based on the application of biopolymers was developed by Sensatec and scientific partners which has now been successfully implemented at various sites in Central Europe. Sensatec GmbH represents Microbial Insights’ capabilities to the Consultant Community in Germany.
Avecom (Ghent, Belgium) is a leading expert in applied environmental microbiology, providing direct engagement and tailored solutions for clients throughout the European market. Since 2012, we have enjoyed a robust and evolving partnership with Microbial Insights, serving as their essential “boots on the ground” to facilitate advanced molecular testing. By combining our deep local expertise with Microbial Insights’ world-class qPCR and sequencing technologies, we offer European clients a seamless experience. Together, we have successfully processed more than 2,000 samples, expanding our collaborative reach from environmental remediation into critical fields like wastewater treatment, chemical manufacturing, and corrosion monitoring.
BAW works on environmental characterization and remediation projects, with a focus on innovative technologies in order to provide the Italian market with ever better tools for solving environmental issues. Since 2018, we are exclusive distributor of Microbial Insights for Italy, providing tools to our customers and supporting them in study planning, tools installation, and understanding of the laboratory results. By integrating a microbiological perspective, remediation applications can be designed to meet cleanup goals more effectively while reducing time and cost.
VSOL GROUP and Microbial Insights share a common goal: to deliver the best solutions to our clients. Through innovation and hard work, we continuously expand our portfolio to develop disruptive tools for the contaminated site management market. Working in synergy, with the partnership beginning in 2024 and consolidating in 2025, we have brought together extensive expertise and the most advanced DNA-based microbiological analytical technologies to the Brazilian market.

We are excited to continue building these international partnerships. Discover how one of our clients in Brazil is leveraging molecular analyses to advance their project goals.
Integrating MBTs into Brazilian Remediation Practices
Written by: Dr. Debora Ramos
Across multiple remediation projects conducted by Worley Consulting in Brazil, the application of molecular biology tools has become a central element in diagnosing system performance, guiding remedial strategy optimization, and supporting confident decision- making. These tools have been used to assess microbial presence, abundance, and functionality in sites impacted by chlorinated solvents, petroleum hydrocarbons and other complex contaminant mixtures. At sites remediated by in situ enhanced bioremediation, molecular data not only corroborated successful contaminant removal but also helped identify limitations, such as intermediate compound stalls, indicating when additional amendments or bioaugmentation were required.
In parallel, microbial characterization has supported technology selection by confirming whether native communities were already capable of driving biodegradation, allowing the selection of more sustainable approaches. At a more complex site with high chloroform concentrations, in situ chemical reduction integrated with biological processes were implemented and the confirmation of key genes and organisms supported the progression towards site closure with greater technical confidence. For biosparging applications, DNA-based tools were critical in understanding key players involved in unconventional contaminants degradation which are now being used to monitor system performance. In addition, microbial analysis of functional genes supported a strategic transition to a bioremediation strategy at a site where contaminant rebound was consistently observed following other remedial approaches. Collectively, these projects illustrate how molecular diagnostics are moving from niche tools to core components of remediation practice in Brazil, enabling smarter designs, reduced uncertainty, improved sustainability, and more robust long-term outcomes.
