Microorganisms have proven to be highly effective in environmental cleanup and remediation over the past several decades. The use of molecular biological tools (MBTs) such as qPCR and next-generation sequencing can provide the quantitative and comprehensive data needed to determine and implement the most effective remediation strategies for contaminated sites. Due to a need for more accurate, cost-effective, and understandable information for decision-makers, these methods are rapidly evolving. However, practical guidance on interpreting and applying MBT results is limited. This workshop will bring together experts from the fields of molecular microbiology and environmental remediation in an interactive exchange with industry stakeholders who are seeking justifiable ways to optimize treatment and improve remedial outcomes using these state-of-the-art methods.
