Stakeholders at a TCE-impacted site were concerned about elevated cis-DCE and vinyl chloride concentrations relative to ethene.
Site managers asked “Is there evidence of cis-DCE and vinyl chloride dechlorination at the site?” The answer was yes. CSIA conclusively demonstrated that TCE, cis-DCE, and vinyl chloride degradation had occurred at several locations at the site.
These observations increased stakeholder confidence in the current treatment strategy and avoided a premature injection of additional electron donor. Results also helped shape future monitoring at the site to increase lines of evidence for regulatory compliance.
